Biography

Amy was born in the UK and spent her childhood growing up in Sydney and Hong Kong. Overseas, Amy has performed at the Sydney Opera House, Hong Kong Disneyland, and St John’s Cathedral (Hong Kong). At school, Amy was awarded an Outstanding Talent Scholarship for her contributions to music. She studied flute with Kate Lawson and Olivier Nowak, both Principal Flautists of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra respectively.

 

In 2019, Amy commenced her Bachelor of Music at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, studying Flute with Susan Milan, Baroque Flute with Rachel Brown, and Piccolo with Christopher Green. In 2020, she won the Harold Clarke Woodwind Competition (1st year division) and was subsequently awarded the Michael Hirst and Trinity College of Music Trust Scholarships. In October 2020, Amy organised a concert to raise awareness of Black Composers in Black History Month. This performance was featured on Greenwich Maritime Radio and the Trinity Laban YouTube channel. As a scholar at the Old Royal Naval College Chapel Choir, Amy performed at St. Paul’s Cathedral and in the Platinum Jubilee Episode of Songs of Praise alongside Katherine Jenkins.

 

Outside of conservatoire, Amy won the Ongar Club Music Prize (2021) and was a finalist in the British Flute Society Competition (2021). She is Principal Flautist of the Royal Yeomanry Band and has performed at the Lord Mayor’s Show, Remembrance Day Parades and Freedom of Shrewsbury. To celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, Amy performed with the Royal Yeomanry Band on the Coronation Street Coronation Episode. Orchestrally, Amy has performed with the University of Surrey Orchestra, Lambeth Orchestra, and London Opera Company.

 

Amy began studying her Master of Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland as a recipient of the RCS Trust Scholarship and Universal Music Sound Foundation Scholarship in September 2023. She studies flute with Katherine Bryan and Helen Brew and piccolo with Janet Richardson. Amy has performed with various ensembles at RCS including Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, Ballet Showcase Orchestra and in a Woodwind Quintet. Outside of her studies, Amy regularly performs with the Highland & Lowland Bands (Royal Regiment of Scotland) and the Glasgow Bach Cantata Project. Amy holds her LRSM Flute Diploma with Distinction.
