About the event
For two nights, musicians from the University of Cambridge will be performing Gilbert & Sullivan's HMS Pinafore.
Set aboard the HMS Pinafore, the show follows Josephine, daughter of Captain Corcoran, who is destined to marry Sir Joseph Porter, social climber and First Lord of the Admiralty. In an ingenious plot twist from Gilbert, she has instead fallen for the bright young sailor Ralph
Rackstraw, who arrives on the ship followed by a local woman Buttercup. Meanwhile Ralph mentions to the crew his love of Josephine and is pitied for loving in vain, but not wanting to upset her father, Josephine admits her feelings to her father but promises not to tell. Sir John
